Hokkaido Exploration-Sapporo June 2014 Part 1

On the way to Sapporo from Asahikawa, we made a detour to Sunflower Field in Hokuryu.

Another disappointment! The sunflower were still at their seedling stage? Guess need to wait till August!

Decided to try our luck at Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park, all tulip cut since the day before  ):

Didn't stay long as there is nothing much to do!

My sister had all along wanted to visit a Japanese Shrine.  It was when we reached the Hokkaido Shrine that we realized there was some kind of festival going on. There were stalls selling food and all kind of stuffs.  My sis's favourite - Candy Floss

My Dad's Favorite - Power Ranger

Bananas on a stick coated with chocolate sauce

Many of their locals came in their traditional outfits

Water is provided for you to cleanse yourself before entering the shrine.

Amulet in both English and Japanese  :)

Our next hotel was Toyko Dome in Sapporo

Our room was so spacious by Japanese standard!  It has 4 beds and a writing desk in the center.

Wah...the view of Odori Park from our room!

We were so lucky! Just checked in and in time to see the parade - guess it must be part of the shrine festival.

Decided to explore the surrounding areas by foot. On the way for an early dinner we saw the parade again!

They were everywhere...

Spotted 2 SG eateries!

Eat all you can eat buffet !!!  My Sis's favorite passtime.

There are three kinds of crabs available, Tarabagani (King crab), Matsubagani (Snow crab) & Kegani (Horsehair crab).  A lot of other seafoods and cooked food are also available.

Had a hard time trying to ply the oyster apart

My favorite part of the buffet - Desserts !!!

Wanted to do some shopping in Daimaru after our dinner but it was already closed  ):
